Lady Bug Tilda

Hi My Folks!
I thought I would drop in and say hello.  I have been busy doing all kinds of stuff from making cakes to trying to make covers for my crafting machinary (still working on that).  I'm also of course working full time and trying to maintain some kind of order in my home (not so successful there).  It's always so very nice when I am able to come in my crafting room and do a little something.  Today, I want to share a card that I made for one of my co-worker's b-day.  She is over the moon for Lady Bugs!  So this was a perfect opportunity for me to use my Magnolia Lady Bug Tilda from the 2010 Raising the Ceiling Collection.  Man...when I have time and I put my mind to it, I can whip out a card pretty quick. However, I create a serious mess in the frenzy.  It only took me 2hrs from start to finish for this card. I have included a close up of Lady Bug, showing the technique I used in one of my beginner videos (colouring skies and trees)  I hope you enjoy it.   Hope to be back a little sooner with some more creations.  Until then, keep crafting!

Fall Door Hanger

Hi All,
Just thought I would put out a quick post (or what I hope to be a quick post). Every week there is a new challenge over at Jackson's Digital Expressions .  This week's challenge is hosted by our very talented Altered Art team.  The theme is Altered Door Hanger.  You do not have to do a traditional door hanger, as you will see when you pop over there.  Our DT members have really brought forth their creative sides to bring inspire you to branch out.  The door hangers look grrrt!  I also made a door hanger.  I used a lot things I already had on hand.  Whenever I go to Hobby Lobby, JoAnn's or Michael's, I try to buy something to altered that I didn't already have.  I find my items in the dollar bins at JoAnn's as well as their wood works section.  At Michael's I go the wood works section. Hobby Lobby, has a spectacular assortment of things to alter and different sizes.  This is a wooden door hanger that I got at Hobby Lobby for .79 cents.  The paper is an old (2008) Debbie Mumm (for Jo-Ann) cardstock pack.  It is called "Harvest & Holiday". The paper pack has Fall, Thanksgiving, Halloween, and Christimas (what a bargin for me)!   I used Modge Podge to adhere the cardstock to the door hanger, sanded the edges and the inner circle (front and back). I inked the edges with Vintage Photo distress ink, I used the Tim Holtz "Autumn Gatherings"  die to make the leaves and branches (I highly recommend this die).  I cut out a thin black circle (from stash cardstock) to randomly glue the leaves and branches in a circle. I added a couple 2-3 WOC Roses , I used pop dots to adhere the branch wreath to the door hanger (to give it some lift).  I cut out the pumpkins from another piece of cardstock in the same paper pack; and viola! you've got a door hanger.   Well, gotta run for now.  I will be back very soon with a very cute seasonal card I think you'll enjoy.

Alter Something

Good Morning everyone,

Today I'm sharing a box I altered for a friends 5th wedding anniversary.  His wife loves the book "The Hobbit", so he bought her the limited edition!  He asked me if I could do something to make it look pretty for her.  So, I came into my stamp lab and the wheels started turning.  I wanted to keep within the theme of Wizards, Warlocks, Magic, and all the other neat things that go on in the story.  I had to have little background about the story (I've never read the story nor have I seen the movies.  Appearantly, this is the beginning of the Lord of the Rings.   Okay, so I had this DCWV paper that I never used called "Once Upon A Time".  It was perfect for this occasion!  I used Tim Holtz Distress Stain to colour the box.  I was sweating bullet, because I had never used the stain before and wasn't sure how it would turn out.  Let me just say, it was gorgeous (if I do say so myself).  I used peel off gold stencil to trim the box.  Of course the flowers are from WOC (Wild Orchild Crafts) and Prima.  Most of the charms are from JoAnn's in the jewery section, the metal number "5" stencil is from Stamp Asylum (Plano, Tx), the ribbon is from the Crafty Scrapper (Waxahachie, Tx). I have had this ribbon in my stash for quite some time. It was so pretty, I kept thinking I don't know why I  need to buy this but something was telling me to get it.  I started gathering the things I needed to complete my project and that ribbon was exactly what I needed.   I used the DCWV cardstock mentioned above to partially cover the front, insides, and back panels.  I did some tearing and lots of inking  to make it look old and tattered.  I used Mod Podge to adhere the paper.  I used Glossy Accent to adhere all the flowers.  I stamped lines on a tag I created out of a torn piece of the DCWV cardstock and shapped it with a nest to make a journaling tag.  My BFF Lesia from Memas Crafts gave me some jute cloth a while ago and I used that to cover the book inside the box.  Because one of the main points of the book/movie revolved around a "ring" I found a really neat tricket pack at Michaels, that had something in it that really looked like a ring during those times.  I put it in a burlap sack (from Maya Road).  I used one of Tim Holtz's little potion glass bottles and filled it with flower soft (for the concoction-the love potion).   Believe it or not, it only took  me 6 (six) hours to complete the entire project.  My co-worker loves the box and I think Mrs. Co-Worker will too.   Here are some photos of the box before and after.  Oh, I also created a small box for another gift he bought for her ( a book light to clip on her book).  I used a paper mache' box I got from JoAnn's, covered it with Prima 6x6 "Romance Novel"- love, love, love this paper pack.  Stamped the lines on the journalling tag.  It is absolutely beautiful!!!!  The pearl lace is from Crafty Scrapper; Jute cord is from JoAnn's, the roses are WOC, and I inked the edges with distress ink from Tim Holtz.   I hope you enjoy the photos.  If you have any questions give me buzz (mszbeasley99@att.net). I am entering my boxes in the Fashionable Stamping Challenge #31 Alter Something. Crazy Amigo Challenge Not A Card.  Creative Craft Chalenges 2 Anything Goes. Oldie But A Goodie challenge Show Us Your Ribbon. Party Time Tuesdays Anything Goes.  Stampin' Sisters In Christ Create a project/card with something handmade on it.

Inks and Such Challenge #24 at Jackson Digital Expressions Breast Cancer Awareness or Pink

Hi all,
Sorry for the long hiatus.  Blogger and I are having massive uploading issues.  Somedays it will upload photos without any problem and somedays (most days) NOT!  So, I will just tell you about my card that I did for the Inks and Such "Pink" challenge. This challenge is in support for Breast Cancer month and our never ending quest to find the cure.  For my card  I used Robert Jackson's  rose image. I merged the rose 3 times to make a cluster of roses. I coloured the image with Prisma Color Pencils and Mineral Spirit, I also used Copics on the leaves. I then copied the image in different ways to create the patterned paper (out of plain printer paper). I used Nesti labels 13 and the stacking technique on the outside of the card.   I used the double embossing technique to make the frame for the inside sentiment.  I made the sentiment up. The black CS is from my stash.  I stitch the design on the front of the card.  Well, thank you for stopping by.  Just as soon as Blogger and I can come to a firm understanding about this picture uploading problem; I will post more often.
Please be sure to stop over at Jackson's Digital Expressions and join this weeks Inks and Such challenge #24, Breast Cancer Awareness or Pink.  For every entry into the challenge a .25 cent donation will be given to Breast Cancer Research.  You can also join the challenge at Mema's Crafts as she is also giving a donation toward Breast Cancer Research every entry in her October challenge.
