Criss Cross Card Challenge

Hey everyone,
I mentioned in an earlier post that Mema of memascrafts is having a card challenge.  The theme is fall (colours) and the technique or type of card is a criss-cross card.  I have made many technical cards before but this card was a bugga-bear for me.  I think I'm just tired at least I hope so.   I cut up at least 2-12x12 sheets of red paper and printed paper trying to get the triangles right (urrrrrrr).  Finally (as I was nearing my last piece of red cs) I got it right.  After all that I really do love the card now.  I used a K& Co.  (Tim Coffey-Tuscan Sunflowers) paper pack, it sooooo beautiful! I am posting now but I may need to re-post this picture in the morning.  Again as with my Native American Tilda, could not get the picture colouring right secondary to the artificial lighting (aka horrible lighting).  But at least you can get a good idea of what the card looks like.  Well it's late and I gotta get up early and start on the rest of the challenges for this week.  Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to stop over at Memas Craft and take the challenge!!!!

Native American Tilda-Happy Fall Y'All

Happy TGIF my precious Blog Buddies,

I am so thrilled it's Friday!  I am beat! However, never too beat to do a Maggie (lol).  I finally finished Native American Tilda.  I think the Teepee was the easiest of everything else I had to do on the card, mahn this one was a lil' time consuming.   It was fun but I'm glad I'm done.  I'm ready to move on to challenges and Christmas! Don't you just love this time of the year?  It really gets your creative imagination going.  There are so  many cards I want to do, not sure I'll have time though.  Some how I've got to work my family in there (he-he-he).    Well on to Tilda...Gosh y'all,  I forgot to write down most of the supplies I used but I'll tell you what I can remember.  I worked on this for about week (off and on).  The leaves and tree branches-Tim Holtz die, colouring-Copics (who else? lol), the plain card stock is Bazzill and Tim Holtz (T.H. cardstock matches his distress inks can be found at JoAnns for anyone who didn't know that). Okay, what else did I use (tapping my chin)???  hmmmm... the log is a Magnolia accessory. The Teepee is a soft leather (goofy me, I thought it is was suede).  It worked great for the hide skin look of a Teepee.  You can find 8 x10 pieces at JoAnn's and Michaels ( use a coupon for sure, otherwise you'll be paying $6 or so). The beads are from Michaels (I think I found those in the junk bin).  Jute or Hemp is from JoAnn's.  The Teepee post are swizzle sticks from JoAnn's. Lawdy, I had to think outside the box on this part.  My original plan was to go outside and clip some twigs, clean them up, put some SU Crystal Effects on them, etc, etc.  I decided that that would be a NO!  So I soaked swizzle sticks in a little bit of warm water (briefly, just so the wood would soften but not expand), dabbed off the excess water, used a textured embossing folder, ran them through my Big Shot, brushed them with Walnut Stain distress ink-Viola! rough and rugged Teepee post (dancing around in my chair-go Joycee, go Joycee).  I cut the soft leather in the shape of (what I thought would look like) a Teepee, used one of my cutterpee wheels to make the slit in the front, I stitched the design on the front, scraped the soft leather with wired scraper thing (I'm thinking this is not the real name) to make it look worn and rough, and ink distressed the edges with Walnut Stain.  All the leaf edges are distress with Walnut Stain as well. I popped NA-Tilly (isn't that cute-get it Natilly-Natalie, okay yeah-moving on) up to give her a little dept.  I got the greeting from a local craft store in Plano, TX-Stamp Asylum stampasylum.blogspot.com/ .   The tag on the front is from SU.  I used a couple of the large deckled rectangled nesties for the mats inside and the sentiment is from Inkadinkadoo (#98549, Autumn Foilage).  Gheeeeez, I think that's it.  If you find that I have forgotten something, just drop me a line and I'll see if I can remember but I really think that's it. Oops for got the printed paper is BoBunny-Forever Fall Collection 6x6 paper pack. Okay, now I'm really done.

I had the hardest time trying to get a decent picture of this card.  I think it was because of all the bright colours in the photo.  This was these were best I could get of the outside and inside of the casd, my apologies.
I plan to enter this one in the Simon Says Stamp challenge- simonsaysstampschallenge.blogspot.com/
Hop on over and check it out.

Thanks for stopping by, Joyce (SS)

My first challenge win!

Hey y'all, awesome news... I won my very first challenge from the Outlawz for the "Asian theme".  I used Japanese Tilda.  I am pumped now!!!!  What a great confidence builder.  It has inspired me to reach for the stars (the challenge stars that is-hee-hee-hee).   I am currently working on some Christmas cards and a fall card.    Just wanted to give everyone a lookout for my next projects as Mema calls them.   Speaking of Mema, y'all need to check out her blog-she has a challenge going on with some pretty good blog candy to give away.  http://www.memascrafts.blogspot.com/.

Have a great night everyone, be back soon, Joyce (SS)

Jardin de Fleurs

I call this my well traveled card.  I gave the card a French title even though it makes me think of one of King Henry VIII English Gardens, made by lil' ole American me (lol).   Seriously though, this is my entry for the  Outlawz Wednesday's sketch challenge.    CS from my stash, printed paper-Prima Floral Fairy (6x6) paper pack, Labels 15 and square nesties, flowers from Michaels, Prima, and WOC, sentiment  Alfred Lord Tennison.

Tag Your It

Happy Saturday everybody,
Wow, another week gone by.  Time is really moving fast, before you know it, it will be Christmas!! (Sorry, didn't mean to scare ya but yes, you are running out of Christmas shopping time-lol).  However, for now we are living in today, which brings me to the latest challenge I'm entering over at the Outlawz  the theme is "Tag Your It".  As usual the ladies have been bringing the heat, so I gotta keep up.   Here is my entry for the challenge.  When I first started cardmaking and scrapbooking, I use to make tags a lot.  They are great for trying new techniques. They are just small enough, so if you mess up (although, there are no mess ups in scrapbooking or stamping) you don't feel like you've wasted your supplies.  As I progressed in the craft, I've sort of gotten away from tag making, so this was an excellent opportunity to revisit tagging and applying some new tricks of the trade.  My design for the "Tag Your It challenge" was inspired by my favorite scrapbook artist Gabrielle P.    The CS is from my stash of Clampitt Paper Co. paper, the printed paper is Pink Paisley (6x6) paper pack Butterfly Garden Collection.  This paper pack is so beautiful, if you have it you know what I mean.   I was trying to go for a soft antiquish look.  I really love that era.  Well, enough of my day dreaming, I'll let you take a look.  Don't forget to check out the Outlawz!

Thanks so much for stopping by, Joyce (SS)

Japanese Tilda

Here is my entry for the Outlawz - Copic Group  http://outlawzchallenges.ning.com/   It's an Asian theme and the cards I've seen are absolutely beautiful.  I'm just so excited to be able to have an entry to submit.  I'm not feeling so good this evening, but I was determined to get my entries in for both challenges.  I can't remember where I got the world paper from, the card stock is from a paper company (Clampitt Paper), it has a leather feel (how cool is that)?!  The silk ribbon is from Stampin' UP! (SU).  I also used a nesti and some Cyrstal Effects (SU) on the trim of her collar and the sash (not sure if it's called a sash) and on her hair clips (you probably can't tell, but it really is just darlinged).

こんばんは (konbanwa).
Good night.

Secret Tilda

Hey everyone,
I am trying to enter more challenges so I've had to ramp it up with cards.  I am sort of challenging myself to meet the challenges on different blogs.  The goals is to make my cards and pages as elaborate as usual but do a lot quicker (and maybe even win every once in a while).   Fall is my favorite time of the year, so I did Secret Tilda with a fall theme.  I love the Bo Bunny paper.  The fusion of colours reminds of the leaves changing colours up North (that's about the only thing I miss about the North, oh yeah and my family). I also used some Tim Holtz (the hanging sign post and the ticket).  The flowers are Micheal's (Recollection) brand and of course I coloured Secret Tilda with my Copics.    I am entering this card in the Wednesday sketch challenge over at the Outlawz http://outlawzchallenges.ning.com/

Thanx for stopping by Joyce (SS)

Just "Precious"

Hey Y'all,
I hope all is well with everyone.  I don't celebrate Halloween but I just love this time of the year (It's Harvest time!!!).  I saw this digi on another site I follow and thought it was so bleedin' cute.  This digi can be found at Tiddly Inks http://www.tiddlyinks.com/ I decided that this was as close to Halloween as I was going to get (this is my dark eerie look-lol).  The flowers came out better than I thought.  The leaves were made with Quickutz die.  I brushed the ends of the leaves with some T.H. Walnut Stain  http://www.timholtz.com/ .  Black flowers are just a foreign concept to me; however, Prima Marketing can make any flower look good!

Steam Punk Deb(utante)

Copics used:
skin-E27, 25, 13, 11
hair-E49, 47, 25
fur-C1, 0, and CB
clothing-V99, 95, 93, 91
umbrella-V93, 91
trimmings-Gelly Roll, Star Dust (clear) pen

Projects in the works: A Mo Manning stamp- "Oxford", I should be posting him by the end of the week.  After that a digi stamp "Hansel" (in the pumpkins or Pumpkin Hansel; I can't remember).  Be sure to come back soon to check them out!   Thanks for stopping by.

Christmas Candy Box

I saw this Christmas Candy  holder in an older Magnolia INK (Christmas 2010), and decided I would give it a try.  Red is my favorite colour and I absolutely love WOC flowers.  I wasn't trying to make it a Christmas theme ; however, it sort of took that direction anyway.  I love some Magnolia!!!! You just cannot go wrong with these stamps and whoever you give a card to can't help but smile.  I think my new venture will be stepping out of the box and trying some of the Magnolia CS/papers. I am using this as one of my work products for the Bizzy Becs DT Call  (see site for requirements).  Hurry and get your entries in, you have until November 9th.  Well, I'm off for the night, 4am comes pretty early (back to work I go after a 2 month vacation).
Sorry for the blurriness.  Thanks for stopping by.

Criss-Cross card-Tilda in Boots

I love my lil' chocolat' Tilly's.  This one card idea came from two super card makers Kylie and Andrea.  You can check Kylie out at http://www.kylieskraftroom.blogspot.com/.  Can't find Andrea's (Andrea J. Pierron) blog or usable link.  I'll look again, if I find something I will link it. Materials to be posted later

Spanish Tilda

I'm getting faster with the cards.  This could also be because I have yet to find a job.  My new job is to spend 5-7hrs/day on the computer searching for a job...sad because I'm not getting paid!  I'm going through Tilda buying withdrawl.  Since my funds are extremely limited I can't make any non-life-sustaining purchases (bummer drag =( ).  Still not too stressed about it, because I know, trust, and believe that God will never let me fall.  He is not a man, that he should lie...

This card was inspired by Hannah (sorry if I misspelled your name incorrectly Hannah).  She is the teenage card making pheonom from Europe.  Awesome young lady and truly gifted, and an inspiration to anyone who has had the pleasure of viewing her works of art.  Here's to you Hannah.

I will post the materials later

Happy Birthday to a Delta!

Another Sara Kay

In this card I used Sara Kay's A Kiss for Chloe. When Lesi introduced me to S.K. stamps, I crabbed about how tiny the images are and how I didn't think I'd be makin' any cards with them...but once you see them after you've coloured them-the rest is just history...
I keep getting this one mixed up with "First Kiss" they're both so darn cute! Unfortunately this is one of those times when I forgot to write down the colors I used, but I can tell you it was coloured with Copics. Gosh! I can't even remember the paper line; I think it's Kay & Co.  The pearls and lace are from JoAnn's, the frame is a sizzix die, the tag in the upper left corner is from SU, the image is stamped on Neenah classic, and flower are WOC.

Mermaid Tilda Card

This is my Mermaid Creation.  You guys could not imagine all the STUFF I purchased for this card!  Maybe 10% of it made it on the card.

Graduation Tilda

Tilda and Sara Kay

Hey everybody, it's been a while.  And the drama continues!!!  I now find myself with more time on my hands than I really care to have (financially) Eeeeek! Yes, I am currently jobless but extremely hopeful.  Had a good week in the application and response department. So, things are looking up and life goes on; however, please keep a sistah in your prayers.  Okay, enough of the drab crap; on to the goodies.  I've been busy over the last 6-8 months colouring Maggies and a few Sara Kays.  Some of them I have the color swatches made, some I do not because this revelation did not come to me until about 1-2 months ago; that I forgot to write them down, soooooooo sorry.

(Chocolat') Cheyenne

Cheyenne is a Kenny K digi.  I made this card for a friend.  I think I did really well with this one, hated to give it to him (dang-it!) but I did.

The last pic is the inside.  Y'all know I love New Orleans; my friend is from New Orleans and so is his friend; how fitting was this design!  I created the pocket with some scrap cs, the bling is from Michaels and ribbon is from JoAnn's.  I coloured CC with my Copics.

Graduation Tilda and Edwin

Distress Tech with Copics
I have been trying different techniques.  On the Tilda's and Edwin, I tried the distress look with the Copics, my thanks to Suz Dean for the tutorial.  I feel like I'm moving through grades with the Copics and Maggies.   I did a Graduation Edwin but I guess I didn't download him to the computer (he's trapped in my camera).  I'll add him later.

Vintage Tilda

Okay, if you are anything like me; when you get a new Maggie you gotta play.  This was one of my first Maggies, got it from the GASC.  And I was just really learning how to shade with the Copics.  The shading isn't that great but it was great playing.  It turned out good, so I decided to keep it.  I made a card front and  eventually I will make it into a full card.
She is a real doll can't wait to really do something else with her.

Balloon Tilda double pocket card

Tried to be a little creative with Tilda with a balloon.  Decided I would do a double pocket. The tag can be placed in the solid green and purple as well as on the other side of the card shown below; it can be placed in the flower pocket.  I used some of the Liquid Pearl for the flower centers.  The paper I got at JoAnn's.
Distress colouring with Copics

BV00,000,0000

 R20
Colourless Blender
Nesti, SU scalloped border punch, and white Pen,
Doohickey Tag die
Seam binding ribbon JoAnn's and Happy Birthday stamp from Michaels

Easel Card with Ribboned Haired Tilda

I forgot the base front (the stopper) on this card but I was so tired, I never got around to putting it on.  I decided that the velvet ribbon would be enough to hold the card.  Perhaps at a later date (this card is at least 4 months) I shall put something there.  I exhaust myself so with the LO and colouring; I never get around to it.  I rarely give them away and my scrapbook/stamping BFF Lesi will tell you, I surely do not sell them.  I'm always trying to get people to learn how to create them on their own ( I don't have to charge them a rediculous price).  So far no takers, they would rather buy them (go figure)!

New Tildas Seeding Tilda and Gardening Tilda

New Maggies- lovin' num!!!!!!!   The story behind this card is kind of funny.  I was at Lesi's and saw this really pretty paper.  She thought it was the ugly paper and had one of those what the hxxx was I thinking when I bought that paper moment.  At the same time she was teaching me to use my MS scoreboard to make an envelope.  I used the gardening paper to make a scrap  envelope, with no intention on using it for anything but an example (incase I wanted to make matching envelopes for my cards).   Well let me just say, it turned out so good and the paper was sooooo pretty, I couldn't just let it sit there.  I decided after seeing the new Tildas (I think they are from the Rainbow Collection) that I just had to do a card to make that lovey envelope.   Hope you enjoy!

Watering Colouring Tilda and her Bunny

I am so insane sometimes! I kept wondering why my water colouring didn't look anything near what I see y'all do!  Well, in all my infinite wisdom-I realized the key to the whole thing is in the paper.  The WATER COLOURED paper!  Ooh lawdy, sometimes I scare myself.    But after my epiphany, I finally did my first card and y'all it only took me 2 days!!!!!    Had one little issue-where we live, the local big 3 do not carry a too many #1 water coloured or mixed media brushes.  So I used #0 and #2 water coloured brushes.  I am going to try the art store this weekend (for that #1 brush).

I still have a few more cards one of which I designed, but it's late and I have to get up earlier for my new job; which is looking for a job.   I'll try to download the others tomorrow evening or sometime soon.   Again I hope you all enjoy and give me some feedback if you like.

P.S. Stampin' Up! workshop Saturday 8/27/11 at my house.  If you can't make it to the workshop and would like to place an order please,  contact Barbara Cambron.  You kind find her in the on-line demonstrator directory.  If you want to order anything from the summer mini, those orders must be in by 8/31/11 11pm CST.
