All About Layering II - Dearest Friend Card

Hello and welcome back to my blog.  Today's card was inspired by some of the Altenew packaging.  I love how they give you inspiration by using the layered stamp set as part of the packing.  One of the great things about Altenew is you don’t even have to turn on the computer, all you need to do is just flip your pack over to the back side and there is your inspiration!

For the All About Layering II class I used Altenew’s Remember This stamp set.  The main image is a four layered Flower.  It comes with layered leaves, a layered flower bud, layered flower stems, some outline foliage and a couple sentiments.

I started my card with a 4 x 5 ¼” piece of cardstock for my card front.  I wanted the image to have a no line colour feel, so I did not use the outline image for the main flower or the leaves.  I stamped one flower at the top and a couple at the bottom in the opposite corner.  To give the card some balance I stamped more leaves along the edge and across the top. To make the images look connected and flowing I did some masking.  I used Altenew’s Shades of Purple and Green Fields Crisp Dye Ink mini cubes sets.  I have to say Green Fields is one of my favorite ink sets.  You can't go wrong using this set of inks for any foliage.  No searching for the right combination, the work is done for you.   I embossed the greeting “Dearest Friend” from Altenew’s Dearest Friend stamp set using black embossing powder and I stamped the sentiment underneath using the Jet Black ink cube from the Green Fields set.  I mounted the card front onto a white side fold A2 size card base and my card is complete.
With this card I learned patience with layered stamping and practice makes perfect or at least really good…lol

Altenew Educator Certification Program

I’m in!!!  I am so excited to share that I have been accepted into the Altenew Educator Certification Program 2020 class!   Over the next few months, I will be sharing my class assignments on my blog.  I will share how I made the cards or scrapbook page and I will have some links to the products.

For my first submission, my inspiration came from the demo card Nicole made in class.  I really liked the small additions of colour and the whimsical floral stamp.  I was just getting started with my Altenew stamp collection (now totally hooked), but I did not have the stamp Nicole used (I do now…lol).  Instead, I used Altenew’s Beautiful Day Stamp Set.  For my inks I used their Floral 6 Mini Cube Set.  I started with some white #65 card stock cut to 4 x 5 ¼” for my card front.  The main floral image has four stamp layers.   It also comes with leaves which have three layers, some other outlined images and a couple sentiments.   I used the large flower outline to randomly stamp on the card front using the Jet Black Crisp Dye Ink Cube.  Then I used the 3rd layer of the large floral image to add some colour.  I stamped one with Frosty Pink, one with Coral Berry, and the last one with Ruby Red.

I stamped the leaves near the larger flowers and used the 2nd layer image as my colour fill.  I used Frayed Leaf for this layer.  To fill in some of the white space, I stamped the smaller images between the large floral images and on the edges.  I added some Wink-of Stella to the leaves (only) for just a touch of sparkle.   I chose one of the sentiments from the stamp set, stamped it on the same type of card as above, trimmed the sides down and popped it up on a small piece of black card stock using 3M Foam Tape, then I mounted the card front onto a tent fold A2 card base using some more foam tape.  I love the black and white with a splash of colour here and there.  I learned that you can do a lot with a little as far as colour.  You can still tell the card basic colours are black and white.  I also learned that mounting white on white really looks good (you will see a lot more of that) and that I prefer neutral card bases over coloured.

Altenew Persian Motifs and Zig Clean Color Markers

Good Evening and thanks for stopping by.   Today, I want to share a card I did using an Altenew Stamp and die bundle called Persian Motifs, you can find information on the stamp set and or the bundle here

If you just want to take a look at some of the other awesome products they have start here

The is an open/outlined stamp, great for whatever kind of colour media you like…dye, water colour, pencils, crayon, etc.   Not only does it have the larger images, but it also has what I call smaller space filling images as well.  You can make it a simple quiet and elegant card or a bold say it loud card.  It fits most if not all occasions from sympathy to a party.  I chose to just let someone know how incredible they are, just because.   I saw the technique I used on a Jennifer McGuire YouTube video; you can find it here

For my card I used some Recollection #110 Ivory cardstock and some navy-blue cardstock to build the base.  For my focal point I used some Arches Cold Press Water coloured paper.  ***Heads-up*** Arches CP is excellent to work with, but it is quite pricey!  I started by added a water coloured wash background.  I dried the background and then I embossed the image onto the background using my Versa Mark pad.  I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to colour the image.  I used one of the sentiments from the stamp set and embossed it with some Fine Details White embossing powder and I punched it out using a retired Stampin’ UP! Label Punch.  To finish the card, I popped it up on some 2 mm fun foam.

Again thank you for stopping by and until next time...

Divine Diva Loaded Vessel

Hey Everyone,

First, I want to give you a heads-up on some possible changes to my site.  I may start using my company name and log or another image in the near future.  Stay tuned for updates.

For today I want to share a project that I recently completed for a challenge I participated in.  The challenge was to create a loaded vessel.  The vessel could be anything you wanted (as long as it could hold stuff).  Since the challenge was for a ladies crafting group.  I decided to do a purse. My crafting BFF Lesia from Mema’sCrafts turned me onto this very talented lady name Sherry. She is better known on You Tube as the Paper Posh Lady; you can find her YouTube channel here.  She is a gifted dimensional crafter, very creative in her projects and will definitely inspire you.   After watching her videos, I decided to do a purse as my vessels.  The purse I chose to do, you can find here

Here are the supplies I used to create my Purse.
Medium Weight Chipboard
Medium Gray (smooth) cardstock (JoAnn)
Prima Marketing-Rose Quartz paper 12 x 12 paper pad
Large Silver Eyelets (Hobby Lobby)
Purse Feet (JoAnn)
Double O rings (JoAnn)
Lobster Clasps (JoAnn)
Chain Link (JoAnn)
Gray Double Tassel (Big Lots)

Packaging – I tried to include what I could see on the pictures.  The vessel is full! There are things on the bottom.  Here are just a few of things you might be able to see…
Large writing tablet (Sherry's tutorial)
Lori Whitlock treat topper SVG
Black Coin Envelopes
Handmade Hand Sanitizer gift packaging-there are many tutorials on You Tube but this one I created on my own to fit the dimension of the Wal-Mart brand hand sanitizer.
Handmade gift cardholder ( My Sister Scrapper tutorial)
Box for Skinny Note Pad.  Note** Sherry does have a box tutorial for her Skinny Note Pad; however, THE BOX MADE FOR MY, IS MY OWN.  I did not use her box tutorial.  I created my box a couple of year ago.  I changed my dimension to fit the Skinny pad.   You can find Sherry’s Skinny Note Pad tutorial here and the Box tutorial here.
Snap Pouch (Lolly Palooza)
Cricut Maker- for pack inserts, Vinyl, labels
Lori Whitlock Rolodex inserts SVG
Acetate
Candy Box- Sizzix Large Box Die
Label on Sizzix Large Box -Stampin’ UP! Label die with movers and shapers shadow die

***In some of the pictures you will see a cute little Fox…Well, she did not make to the cut for this project.  I thought the gray tassels worked better***
