Impressive Heat Embossing

Hello Everyone, welcome back to my blog.  Today, I am sharing two little Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) that I created for my Altenew Educator Certification Program (AECP) class Impressive Heat Embossing.  For more information on the program click here Altenew.

I knew I was going to water colour, so I started by cutting two pieces of Strathmore Cold Press
water colour cardstock to ATC size 3 1/2 x 2 ½”.  I applied some anti-static powder to the surface of both the little card fronts.  I used some Versa Mark ink to imprint the images on the card fronts.   On both the cards I used white embossing powder.  Then I heat set the images using my (standard) heating tool.  For the “hugs” card I used the Altenew Dearest Friend stamp set. The Dearest Friend stamp set is a 6" x 8", high quality photo-polymer, clear stamp set containing 17 stamps total.  This stamp set contains floral, greenery, greetings and sentiments. Oh yeah and don’t forget the Dearest Friend matching die for the two floral images.   I created the colouring using a moderate amount of water and Gansi Tambi water colours (yellows and oranges).  After I finished the water colouring, I helped the drying process using my Tim Holtz heating tool (this has less concentrated heat than a standard heating tool).  If you don’t have the Tim Holtz heat tool, you can leave to images to dry in room air or use your standard heating tool but, I would make sure you have quite a bit of distance between the heating tool and the image to avoid warping.  To further minimize warping, once the images where dry, I placed them both between the pages of a very heavy book and put another heavy book on top of that and left them overnight.   I cut the “hugs” twice using a small Momenta die, one in white and the other in light blue.  I wanted the hugs to really stand out from the background, so I off-set the two “hugs” and then popped them up on some foam tape. It also brings the eye directly to the embossed image.

For the Sending Love & Hugs ATC, I followed the same process as I did for the “hugs”.  This time I used Altenew’s Breezy Bouquet stamp set and the sentiment is an Altenew exclusive gift stamp set called "Best Sentiments".   The Breezy Bouquet stamp set contains 12 stamps.  You get images to create a stand-a-lone floral image, a bouquet in a vase, or a wrapped bouquet.  You also get words and phrases in a beautiful soft font. And just in case you really want to impress the recipient, you can cut out some of the images with the Breezy Bouquet matching die!  I used my Gansi Tambi water colours, in greens, browns, reds.  I stamped the greeting with Gina K’s Amalgam ink.

See you next, Joyce

Altenew Persian Motifs and Zig Clean Color Markers

Good Evening and thanks for stopping by.   Today, I want to share a card I did using an Altenew Stamp and die bundle called Persian Motifs, you can find information on the stamp set and or the bundle here

If you just want to take a look at some of the other awesome products they have start here

The is an open/outlined stamp, great for whatever kind of colour media you like…dye, water colour, pencils, crayon, etc.   Not only does it have the larger images, but it also has what I call smaller space filling images as well.  You can make it a simple quiet and elegant card or a bold say it loud card.  It fits most if not all occasions from sympathy to a party.  I chose to just let someone know how incredible they are, just because.   I saw the technique I used on a Jennifer McGuire YouTube video; you can find it here

For my card I used some Recollection #110 Ivory cardstock and some navy-blue cardstock to build the base.  For my focal point I used some Arches Cold Press Water coloured paper.  ***Heads-up*** Arches CP is excellent to work with, but it is quite pricey!  I started by added a water coloured wash background.  I dried the background and then I embossed the image onto the background using my Versa Mark pad.  I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to colour the image.  I used one of the sentiments from the stamp set and embossed it with some Fine Details White embossing powder and I punched it out using a retired Stampin’ UP! Label Punch.  To finish the card, I popped it up on some 2 mm fun foam.

Again thank you for stopping by and until next time...

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2019- Day 26 Bonus Tag

BONUS TAG, Tag 26
Well, I made it back for the last tag.  This is I believe the ending of Tracey McNeely’s-The 25 Days of Christmas Tags for 2019 .  A huge thank you again to Tracey McNeely for putting this event together, securing the sponsors, and maintaining the posting site and the social media access.  This is a tremendous undertaking and we cannot give you enough kudos and thanks.  Know that without a shadow of a doubt you are very much appreciated.   Thank you to the sponsors for the donated gifts and to the amazingly talented design teamers for the incredible inspiration day after day.

The bonus day sponsor is HELLO BLUEBIRD!  And my inspiration came from Susie Lessard.
You have got to see the cute tags and some with matching cards, just click on her name.  Just so darn cute!   I took my inspiration from her pastel pink and white tag.  It too has a matching card.

For my last tag, I did a smaller scale version of a super-sized tag I did a couple of year ago.  Click here to see the super-sized version.   Here’s what I used to make Tag 26: Avery Elle’s Double Stitched Rectangles, Tim Holtz Scribbles & Splats, Holiday Greens, Reindeer & 25 Set, DCWV Glitzy Glitter 6x6 cardstock stack.  The patterned papers are scraps from the original tag, so I can't tell you the manufacture.  I used Silver embossing powder, Stampin’ UP! Come to Bethlehem (retired) stamp set- I only used the sentiment, STAZ-ON Opaque-Cotton White Pigment Ink, Acetate sheet, and foam tape.

The theme of the tag is a Winter Wonderland.

Here is a close up of the sentiment.

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2019- Day 25

The day has arrived!!!

Tracey McNeely’s-The 25 Days of Christmas Tags is done!  Whoo-whoo! We made it!  I did it, I’ve crossed the finished line, arms are raised, doing the Rocky jump, I’m in tears, laughing, hugging the family and all those who supported me through this journey----What?! …pump-the-breaks sistah, she ain’t done?!?  There is one more BONUS day!  Today’s sponsor is Honey Bee Stamps and my inspiration came from…Tracey! Click on her name and scroll down to the last tag.  My favorite colour is RED and her tag is so pretty, I just love it.  So, I did a tag similar to hers.

I created my tag with my Cricut Maker.  I found the scalloped based, created a square mat layer, and used my new Deboss Tool to create the lines on the square mat.  I used some dark red smooth cardstock from JoAnn’s, a Versa Mark pad, some white fine detail embossing powder, some foam tape to pop-up the square mat.  The message is from a Firefly (Momenta Co.) Cut and Stamp set (Tuesday Morning find, TX USA, $4.99).  I used some dark red and ivory twine to finish it off.

Well, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I think I’ll see you for tomorrow’s BONUS tag day.

I had to lay the tag down to get a good shot of the debossing.  I'm lovin' it!

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2019- Day 18

Hey peeps,

The posts from here on out will probably be very, very short.  It seems I am coming down with an upper respiratory situation…of course right before Thanksgiving.   Nothing like a Thanksgiving meal you can’t taste or smell (mercy).  But I must count my many blessings and praise HIS Holy name anyway, Amen!  Right now, I am grateful for being able to keep up with the 25 Days of Christmas Tags hop hosted by Tracey McNeely and today’s sponsor Neat and Tangled.  Tracey, you know we love and appreciate all your hard work!!!  I am also grateful for some quick inspiration for Carol, click on her name to see her tags.  Thank you Ms Carol, because I am draggin’ right about now and your red tag was just what I needed (that’s all I had energy for…lol).

So..., my tag tonight, was made using Avery Elle’s Postage Die, Bo Bunny’s 6x6 paper pad-Blitzen Collection (very old paper pad), Just Right Clear Christmas Mini Tags stamp set, some Versa Mark, white embossing powder, and some brown 1/8th Satin Ribbon.  This was a quick and super simple tag but still just as pretty as the ones that took me a couple of hours to create.    Nighty-nighty folks…
