Altenew Magical Markers Class

Hello my crafty friends,

I think this is my last card for the Altenew Educator Certification Program (woo-hoo).  If not, I have only one to go.  Today's card features Markers.  I love my markers! The class title was Magical Marker Techniques.  In this class we learned about using markers in different ways other than shading.  I pretty much use my markers for shading...lol.  The instructor coloured on different types of substrate/mediums such as vellum and aluminum (tape).   My card was inspired by one of the demonstrations card in the class.  

For this card, I did a tent fold slender card.  The measurements for the finished card are 6" x 3 3/4".  I used some off brand alcohol markers instead of my Copic Markers (way too expensive to just play with).  Altenew has alcohol markers in a variety of colour families like their dye inks, so if you intend to shade the guess work is done for you.  They also come in sets of 12.  Another tip is that the price point for the Altenew Alcohol Marker is a little more reasonable as compared to Copics.  

I decided to try something new for me, which was just to use the markers to do colouring.  I really liked the technique the instructor used for the card.  I also love the look of  the shape and the geometry of the image.  In order to achieve this look, I had to first create a stencil since I did not have the stencil used in the video.  I used the information about creating stencils from an earlier class in the program.  The sentiment was created with a die I had on hand.  I cut the sentiment out twice once on white cardstock and then on black card stock.  I offset the black just slightly to create a hint of a shadow.  I used some foam tap to give the "thanks" some dimension.   It looked kind of plain initially, so I add some black dots with of course a marker and that really tied it up nicely.  It is true for my eyes at least, that odd numbers draw in the vision.  Randomly placing the 3 black dots was such a good idea.  I think this would make a nice masculine card.

Altenew Gift Stamp

Hello All,
Welcome back to my blog.  Today I want to share a card using a personalized gift stamp set from Altenew.  This is a 3 x 4 inch, high quality photo polymer stamp set that comes with 2 stamps.  You have the main image, which is a single layer, outlined, double flower with leaves, and the personalized stamp with my name.  It is a beautiful stamp set. I don't know what I did to receive it, but I appreciate it so very much.  Thank You Team Altenew!  I couldn't wait to play with it.  I went right to work and made a little 3 3/4 x 4 3/4 inch Thank You card with a matching envelope.

To make the card, I used #80 Neenah CS cut at 3 1/4 x 4 1/4.   I stamped the image with Momento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured the pedals of the flower with Copic Markers R89, 59, 46, 29, 27, and 24.  I left the leaves, center, and stamen white for more dramatic affect.  I used Copic Markers C3, 2, 1, 00, and the Colourless Blender to lift the flowers off the CS and add a little shadow.  I used Altenew's Many Thanks Stamp Set and Obsidian Pigment Ink to stamp the sentiment inside and outside.  I also stamped a portion of the flower image in the inside of the card but left it uncoloured.  I did the same for the matching envelope.   I created a custom envelope (for the non-standard base card size) with the help of my Punch Board Envelope Maker app (for I-phones) and the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board.  I mounted the card front on to some Dark Heritage Gray 65# CS (from JoAnns) and then mounted that on to my card base.   This was a quick and simple but elegant Thank You, easily reproduced and even faster if you scan the card front into your computer (Of course I didn't think of that until just now...duh me).  

Some more great news...I passed my Level 1 Altenew Educator Certification Program (AECP) challenge on the first attempt (God is good)!  It's on to Level 2.  Well, that's it for now, I hope you enjoy the photos of my Altenew Thank You card.  Until next time...

Spellbinders Majesty die Shaped Card

Hi everyone,
     Today I am sharing a card I did with Spellbinder's Majesty die S4-445.  I love this die, it's so, so pretty!  There are just a wonder of ideas and possibilities with this die.  I was inspired by a card I saw in the JustRite booth at the last Craft Expo I attended. The card I saw was actually a baby card.  I plan to do the baby card eventually.   I used scraps to do this first run card.   Just making sure I'm able to line up the templates correctly and making note of any adjustment needed for the real card!  The card measures about 4.25" x 4.25".  The supplies  I used are JoAnn's pink cardstock, the white cardstock is my go-to source Michael's Recollection brand, and  the patterned paper is some old scrap; can't eeeeeeeven remember the name.  The little multicolored rose is from an old Prima collection called Sherwood Rose Cottage. The 1/8 inch satin ribbon is a scrap from a previous project.  I punched the butterfly out of vellum paper (Recollection brand), and added some (Wilton) sparkling stamen and some Crystal Stickles from Ranger.  The little tag is from Spellbinder's Framed Tags One S4-392, the "Thanks"  is from JustRite  All in The Family Large Sentiments CR-04400, and the ink is Stampin UP! Blushing Bride.  Hopefully, in few days I can start on the real thing.  I plan to enter this card in the following challenges.  Thanks for stopping by, til next time...Hugz from me!
