Altenew Gift Stamp

Hello All,
Welcome back to my blog.  Today I want to share a card using a personalized gift stamp set from Altenew.  This is a 3 x 4 inch, high quality photo polymer stamp set that comes with 2 stamps.  You have the main image, which is a single layer, outlined, double flower with leaves, and the personalized stamp with my name.  It is a beautiful stamp set. I don't know what I did to receive it, but I appreciate it so very much.  Thank You Team Altenew!  I couldn't wait to play with it.  I went right to work and made a little 3 3/4 x 4 3/4 inch Thank You card with a matching envelope.

To make the card, I used #80 Neenah CS cut at 3 1/4 x 4 1/4.   I stamped the image with Momento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured the pedals of the flower with Copic Markers R89, 59, 46, 29, 27, and 24.  I left the leaves, center, and stamen white for more dramatic affect.  I used Copic Markers C3, 2, 1, 00, and the Colourless Blender to lift the flowers off the CS and add a little shadow.  I used Altenew's Many Thanks Stamp Set and Obsidian Pigment Ink to stamp the sentiment inside and outside.  I also stamped a portion of the flower image in the inside of the card but left it uncoloured.  I did the same for the matching envelope.   I created a custom envelope (for the non-standard base card size) with the help of my Punch Board Envelope Maker app (for I-phones) and the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board.  I mounted the card front on to some Dark Heritage Gray 65# CS (from JoAnns) and then mounted that on to my card base.   This was a quick and simple but elegant Thank You, easily reproduced and even faster if you scan the card front into your computer (Of course I didn't think of that until just now...duh me).  

Some more great news...I passed my Level 1 Altenew Educator Certification Program (AECP) challenge on the first attempt (God is good)!  It's on to Level 2.  Well, that's it for now, I hope you enjoy the photos of my Altenew Thank You card.  Until next time...

Hello Friend

Hello All,
Just popping in to say hi and share a card I did for a crafting group I belong to.  I hope everyone is well and keeping the faith.  It's like a delayed Spring thaw in Texas.  This past Friday, stores and other businesses began to open.  We are still following the health and law enforcement guidelines related to COVID-19 but people are getting out.  I am hoping that the spirits of the people will continue to rise.   Hear our prayers LORD...

The challenge theme for this card was Red, White, and Blue!  The best flag colours I do believe!     However much I love those colours, it is was a little tough for me to come up with a card idea at first.  I didn't want to do a military card because I want to save those ideas for later in the year.  It just so happened that I found a stamp company that has been around for sometime, but I just did not jump on board.  I've had a couple of their stamps sets from when I first started stamping but again, I was busy with something else and forgot all about them.   I happened to be looking for something on YouTube and came across one of their videos....and she was hooked again.   The company is called Rubber Stamp Tapestry.  You can either Google Rubber Stamp Tapestry or go to pegstamps.com.   You can also check out their YouTube channel here.  Their stamps make some really beautiful cards.  I really love stamps that do the work for you. 

I did a single layer (stamped directly on the card base), 4x4 inch Friend card.  The card base is 110# Neenah Classic Crest Solar White card stock.  The images are from Rubber Stamp Tapestry stamp set-Little Posy Basket.  I used Tim Holtz Distress ink colours Gathered Twigs, Fired Brick, Faded Jean, and Bundled Sage.  To achieve the lighter green for the sprigs I used second generation stamping.  To ground the basket I used Copic markers W3, W1, and W00.   The sentiment is from the Altenew stamp set Mini Atlas.  This is a 2 x 3 inch photo-polymer stamp with 3 total stamps, an image of the continents and 2 sentiments.  The sentiments were just perfect for this little card.  The sentiment was stamped with Altenew's Obsidian Black pigment ink.   To get the heart shape, I stamped the basket first, then I used a Spellbinder's Classic Heart Etched Die and lightly traced the outline of the heart around the basket.  After I was done stamping I used my electric eraser (purchased on Amazon) to remove the pencil trace.  I love, love, love these stamps!

Card of Faith...HE is my rock...

A Card of Faith

Easter (my favorite holiday) is on its way, Glory to God in the highest!  This year I thought I would share some cards to hopefully inspire a renewed devotion to Christ and his message of repentance, forgiveness, love, and alms giving. 

This is an image I coloured a long time ago.  I was just keeping up my Copic colouring skills.  You can quickly lose it if you don’t use it.  It turned out so well I put in my stash.  I kept saying to myself I’m going to make that into to a card one day.  It has been a least 2 years and today was the day that I was moved to make a card.  Nothing fancy, just a card of faith because I know someone will need it.   I coloured the image so long ago, I don’t think I wrote down which colours I used.  If I can, I will list them down below or at least the colours I remember.  It’s been so long; I don’t remember if it was a stamp or a digital image.  I know the cardstock is Neenah Classic Crest Solar White (at least 80#).  

Today, to complete the image, I added a sentiment from the Prima stamp set “Creating in Faith” by Jamie Dougherty and brought in some dept using Copic Markers colours W3, W1, W0, W00.   I popped the focal image up on 3M Foam Tape and used Spellbinders Triple Floral dies for the frame.  The card front is mounted on a 4 ¼ x 4 ¼ white card base.  The inside of the card is empty for now.   I created a plain white envelope using my We R Memory Keepers punch board.   Thanx for stopping by and until next time…

Season Scene Building Revisited with Altenew

Hello, hello, hello!  I am so excited to share a re-do of one of my class submissions.  I got my Altenew Stamp Set GARDEN GROW in the mail and could not wait to do the card example from the class.  I got as close as I could to the demonstration.  I absolutely love how the card turned out!  I followed the class tutorial, so I won’t be able to give you step-by-step; you'll just have to take the course "Seasonal Scene Building" to see how this fabulous creation was made...lol.  I think you will really enjoy this class if you take it, it is sooooo worth it!

Seasonal Scene Building

I’m back with another class submission for the Altenew Educator Certification Program.  I finished the Seasonal Scene Building class and it was reeeeeally good!  I didn’t have the stamps used but you know I’ve already put my order in…lol.   I am inspired by just about anything French and or Country.  For my  card I chose a fence with a grapevine drape, primarily because these were the only scene building stamp I had on hand.  

With this card I would have normally used my Neenah Classic Solar White #80 or #110.  I ended up using a scrap piece of Georgia Pacific (GP), that I cut down to 4 x 5 ¼” card front.  This card front was supposed to be a demo.  I was just practicing my scene building.  My demo turned out so well, I decided to use if for the actual card.  I used five different Judikins stamps to make the scene.  I stamped the scene using Gina K’s Amalgam ink (it was the closest to me at the time and it is Copic friendly).  I coloured the scene using my Copic Markers.  I used Altenew mini ink cube Aqualicious for the dots and Midnight Violet for the grapes.  I used the Jet Black mini ink cube to ink up the “Hello” greeting from the Halftone Hello Stamp Set as well as one of the smaller sentiments from the same stamp set.  I mounted the card front on to a piece Sand coloured 80# cardstock cut to 1/16^th inch larger than the card front.   I mounted the card front onto an A2 sized tent fold card base. To keep the simplicity of the card I left the card flat.  Thanks for stopping by…

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2019- Day 21

Okay, I’m doing a count down since we are sliding-on-into-home on the 25 Days of Christmas Tags.  Click here for information on The 25 Days of Christmas Tags, hosted by Tracey McNeely.   The sponsor for today is LAWN FAWN-yeah!   My inspiration came from Lindsey, who is on the Lawn Fawn design team.  I was inspired to do a little animal tag.  Click on Lindsey's name to see her tag. 

The items I used to create my tag are as follows: Recollections (Michael’s brand) white cardstock, Bo Bunny 6x6 paper pad Yule Tide Carol Collection (2018), Crate Paper’s SNOW and COCOA stamp set, Hero Arts Poly Clear Holiday Messages and Frames, Avery Elle Double Stitched Rectangles, Tonic Studios Essentials Mixed Edge Diamond Layering Basic Die Set, Copic Markers (W1, W00, Colourless Blender), and some 1/8” Satin Ivory Ribbon.  I stamped the image using Gina K’s Amalgam ink.  I cut the image out using my Brother Scan-N-Cut.  I popped the sentiment up with some foam tape.

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2019- Day 19

I used the following items to create my tag: My Minds Eye 6x6 paper pad-Christmas, Neenah #80 Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, Avery Elle-Stitched Postage Dies, Crate Paper stamp set- SNOW and COCOA (item #355528).  I purchased this stamp set just a few days ago at Tuesday Morning (TX, USA, $2.99…what a bargain for Joyce).  I used Copic Markers to colour my little red bird (R46, R29, R27, R24).  Yes, I got all those colours in that little bird…lol.  The sentiment is from my favorite Christmas stamp set-JustRite Clear Christmas Mini Tags. I grounded the image by drawing some snow under his little feet and I finished off the tag with some 1/8” Black Satin Ribbon. I just love this little tag.  Thanks for the inspiration Savannah!

Good evening my crafty friends,

Click the link above to find out how you too can join in on the fun.  My day 6 tag was inspired by, wait for it…Joyce!  Noooo, not me but another fabulous person named Joyce!  That God is something else, isn’t he?!  Like I always say, all good things begin with “J” … Jesus, the Joyces, and Jack (Tennesse Honey Jack Daniels that is), lol.  The sponsor for today is “Avery Elle”! Joyce is on the Avery Elle DT.  She made this adorable little snowman tag, which you can find right here.  You are going to just love him.

Okay (handclap), so to create my tag I used some Neenah Classic Crest Solar White #80 cardstock (Copic friendly), my Avery Elle Postage Stamp Die (D-05-12), a Sun-Bonnet Sue digi stamp (from Bugaboo), a Clear Star Jelly Roll Pen, and of course my JustRite Clear Christmas Mini Tags stamp set.  I’ll use this stamp set a lot during the hop because the tags are small and there is not a lot of real estate for stamping sentiments.  Additionally, I used my Copic Markers, some gold elastic cord, and Gina K’s Amalgam ink. I have posted a couple of pics below for viewing.  I tried to capture a good angle to show the Clear Star Jelly roll sparkle on her bonnet, apron, shoes, and the dots on her package.  All done for tonight. The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2019- Day 4

Good Day My Friends and welcome back to my blog.  It is Day 4 of Tracy McNeely’s The 25 Days of Christmas Tags hop and I am still hanging in.  The design teams are really puttin’-it-down for the hop!  There is no shortage of inspiration. This is really fun once you get a routine down.   My routine is to visit the site early in the morning check out the tags.  That gives me most of the day to think about a design.  I decide on a couple of tags and think about what I have in my craft room that I can use to make my tag.  If I have the stamp or die they used I’ll try to use that.  Most often I do not have the items they used, so then I go with whoever the sponsor was.  For example, for the first tag I did not have the background stamps used but I did recently purchase an Altenew background stamp (Pinstripe).   If I don’t have either…well that is just cause for shoppin’ in-deed!!! 

  

The sponsor today on the hop is UNIKO.  I have to say, I’ve never heard of them until this hop.  I plan to check them out.  The design team tags are crazy amazing!  They were all super good, no seriously ALL of them. It was kind of overwhelming…lol.   You know me, simple elegance, small statements speak loud; so I went with Wiebke Kommerell’s White Poinsettia. I love the white poinsettia on the kraft cardstock.  It almost looks like it is dancing across the tag…lol

I decided on a single Poinsettia as well.  My tag was made using some 110# Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock , Gina K’s Amalgam Black Ink, Copic Markers (listed below), a Recollections (Michael’s) stamp and die set “Christmas” ( I think this was a 2018 stamp set);  I did not use the die, and looped in some red and white polka-dot ribbon.  The greeting is from the same stamp and die set. I used my Tim Holtz Bigz Die to cut out the tag form.   

I used quite a few Copic Markers to color the Poinsettia.  I wanted to make it look like it was dimensional and coming off the tag, even though it is colored directly on the tag.  A couple of other things helped like: the artistry of the Poinsettia drawing.  There is a lot of detail but not too much that you get exhausted trying to figure out where a shadow would be…lol.  Another thing that helps is using the right type of cardstock for alcohol markers; especially, when you are going to lay down a lot of color.  I didn’t bother with putting in any drop shadows or trying to ground it.   I’m pretty okay with it floating in mid-air…lol…that is for you Mema.  Well my lovelies, that is it for me today (tonight).  I’ll catch up with yins again tomorrow.

A Magnolia Thanksgiving

Hello Everyone, just dropping in to tell you about the November challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu.  This months theme is "Thanksgiving".  My project represents the harvest for Thanksgiving.  There are 2 pull outs to attach a gift card to or to send a picture.  You can even attach some lighter coloured plain cardstock for a sentiment.

Our Daily Bread Designs-Armor of God

Hello crafty friends!

Here is a quick post to let you know about the August challenge at Eclectic Ellapu.  The August challenge is geared toward friends.  We want to you show us something you made for a friend within the last 12 months; it doesn’t have to be a card.   It just so happened that I had a friend who was going through a very difficult time, so I sent her this card of encouragement.  I wanted to remind her to keep her faith as our Lord and Savior ALWAYS has her back…praise HIM all the time even in the mist of our trials.   Praise HIM for what HE going to do in your life even when you can’t see it…

30 Day Color Challenge Day 6-Decorated Eggs

Hello Colour Challenge Friends,

This is going to be a very quick post.  I just got home from work and I am absolutely exhausted but I had to post my colouring project for today.  This literally took me about 7 minutes to colour.  This is a stamp by Stampendous, stamp number Q150 Decorated Eggs.  I coloured the eggs with Copic Markers.  The cardstock is Stampin UP’s Daffodil Delight and the patterned paper is an old Prima paper pack called Fairy Flora.  Since the challenge is about colouring, I may or may not make cards out of the images that I colour.   Well, that’s it for tonight, I hope you pop on over to The Daily Marker and join the fun!  Here's a picture of my eggs...

The Daily Marker's 30 Day Coloring Challenge

Hello Crafty Peeps!

Okay, I needed some motivation and I think I have found it!  I was looking for something on Jennifer McGuire’s blog when I stumbled upon The 30 Day Coloring Challenge hosted by Kathy over at The Daily Marker.  The challenge goes from Sept 1^st thru Sept 30^th.  Basically, the challenge is to colour something every day even it’s only five minutes. You can use any colouring medium.  You can find the specific details of the challenge on The Daily Marker.  I am pretty excited about the challenge of trying to colour something every day.  You all know how much I love my Copics.  The other challenge is going to be making something with the images I colour.  Over the last several months I haven’t been feeling so good and haven’t been able to get in my craft room as much as before.  I felt like I was becoming detached from crafts.  My crafts are my therapy!  So The 30 Day ColoringChallenge came right-on-time.  

Today is day 5, Kathy says there’s no need to feel you have to play catch up but if you want to no problem.  You can upload your colouring masterpiece on the site, Facebook, or Instagram.  Please go to the Daily Marker site for the specific information about the challenge and about Instagram.   

I am uploading my favorite flower…The Sunflower.  I coloured this image with a combination of Copic Markers and Pro Markers, the Stamped image is by Stampendous, it's called "Sunflower Ladybug" and the stamp number is P024. I purchased the stamp from Hobby Lobby.  I absolutely love the way it turned out.  Well, I better get crackin'  on my next image if I'm going to try to keep up.  I hope you’ll join us for The 30 Day Coloring Challenge.   Have a colourful day!

Howdy crafty peeps,
     A really quick post for you. Today I am sharing a Tag done by one of my new crafting friends, Vanessa.   Vanessa used the Prima Doll stamp "Taylor".  She paper pieced the doll's clothing using some retired Stampin' UP! 6x6 In-Colour cardstock. I love it! Great colour flow and spacing.  Vanessa is learning her way with alcohol inks.  She is starting with Prima alcohol markers and I believe she even used a little bit of Copic marker in her project.  Way-to-go Vanessa...keep up the great work! Thanks for sharing your talents with us.

CHOCOLATATAY

Well Happy Easter Bunnies!
I finished one of my major projects, so it's break time!  I decided that I really need to practice hair coloring with my Copic Markers (currently I know one colour-brown).  I needed to start with blondes and blacks; they are the worst, so why not tackle those first? Wow...I must say, coloring black hair is a real skill ( of which I have not eeeeeeven mastered).  I did a lot research over the last couple of days and there are some excellent tutorials and very talented folks out there, kudos to all of you.  But since I'm just starting this journey with coloring hair, I needed to start some place simple.  One of my research resources was Pinterest (of course-lol).  I found the colour combinations given by Heather's Hobbie Haven helped me to get close to my goal for today ( color some hair without tearing up the paper and giving up)...mission accomplished! I coloured 5 different shades or variations of black.  I'm still not where I want to be but I think I did a pretty good job today.  I've attempted black hair many times in the past.  Sadly, all my images seem to come out looking like they are prematurely gray, so I let that challenge go for a little bit (it was working my nerves a little too much). Now, I have more time to focus on this one area and hopefully (soon) I will be good it.  I can blend colours pretty well but trying to blend colours to make black takes the patient of Job! (hold me up Holy Ghost!)  I was so happy with today's attempt, I'm just going to keep it (won't make a card or anything).  The image I used is a an old digi from Saturated Canary, called Boobie Love.  My scrappin' BFF Lesia and I are also trying to do more darker skin toned images.  I love, love, love the colour I got for her skin (it's the same as mine. I named the color "Choco-la-ta-tay".  I enlarged the image and copied several head shots on one sheet of Neenah paper to practice on.   I need to keep practicing the black.  I like what I did today but I know it can be much better.  Usually I'm a stickler for staying within the lines but this time it was all about getting the colour and shading right.  Once we have those down, we'll go back to making sure we stay in the lines.   Well here's a look-see at where I'm at so far...

Graphic 45 Prima Doll Altered Door Hanger

Howdy folks,
    It's been a while since I last posted.  I want to make this a quick post because I have so many projects in the works.  I recently returned from a trip to Europe and I have many, many projects planned for the thousands of pictures that I took.   This is a project I was working on before I left for Europe.   I used my favorite paper line of course...Graphic 45's French Country.  I covered the front and back of the door hanger (which I purchased at Hobby Lobby).  I sanded the paper edges flush with edges of the door hands, as well the center whole.  I inked the edged with Vintage Photo Distress ink.   I put the paper on using Mod-podge. The Prima Doll is Priscilla.  I was inspired to use Priscilla after returning from France and seeing the Moulin Rouge theatre.  I covered her using Glitz 6x6 Paper Pack "French Kiss" and some scrap harlequin paper I got from Hobby Lobby ( I think it's call Harlequin Script).  I coloured her with Copic Markers.  I used Recollection and Prima roses, I cut out a tag from the paper and back it on black card stock and popped it up on foam dots.  I also backed the doll with foam dots.  The lace is from Hobby Lobby.  The medal embellishment "Enjoy Life" also comes from Hobby Lobby.  I put a chipboard Fleur-de-Lys in the top right corner, I inked it with Black Soot distress ink and put an overlay of clear sparkle ink using my Atyou Spica pen. The feathers are from JoAnns.  I used a small piece of Graphic 45 paper from a different line, I think it was Trans Atlantic and also cut out a couple of the stamps from the same paper...And viola!!  I love how it turned out.  This was a really quick and fun project.  I've seen many Prima Doll tags and altered door hangers out there but if you haven't done one, I hope this inspires you to give it try.  Til' next time...

The Graduate

Hi everyone,
   I hope this is a quick post, I'm tired from an unexpected trip to the capital today; waaaay too long a story to share.  Well anyway, sad news...Lesia from Mema's Crafts is retiring her challenge blog...boo-hoo (sad face with poked-out lip). So if you haven't, please join the design team in showing Lesia how much we appreciate her for her tremendous work, awesome creativity, and thoughtfulness during her challenge reign. Awesome work Lesia, thank you for the opportunity to show case my talent!   Ok, so for our last challenge the theme is "graduation" or a "masculine card".
